LABCONCO LABORATORY GLASSWARE WASHER/DRYER SPECIFICATION UNDERCOUNTER AND FREESTANDING MODELS PART 1 - GENERAL 1.01 Work Included: 1.01.01 This specification covers the requirements for the purchase of undercounter and freestanding laboratory glassware washers. 1.01.02 Undercounter and freestanding laboratory glassware washers with/without viewing window and with/without high heat option are covered by this specification. 1.01.03 This specification sets the intent for quality, performance and appearance. 1.02 Quality Assurance: 1.02.01 All glassware washers shall meet or exceed all minimum requirements of UL Standard 3101-1/61010-1 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 1010.1 and carry the ETL and ETL-C Testing Laboratories seals. All glassware washers wired for 230 volts shall conform to the following CE (European Community) requirements as tested by Intertek Testing Services NA, Inc: Electrical Safety Standard: IEC 1010-1 and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive: 89/336/EEC. 1.03 References: 1.03.01 The glassware washers shall conform to the following regulations and standards: UL -- Standard 3101-1 CAN/CSA -- C22.2 No. 1010.1-92 European Community -- Electrical Safety Standard: IEC 1010-1 and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive: 89/336/EEC (230 volt models only) 1.04 Submittals: 1.04.01 Glassware washer specification sheets and product manuals shall be submitted by the manufacturer upon request. The glassware washer supplier shall submit shop drawings when necessary for clarification. 1.05 Delivery and Storage: 1.05.01 Glassware washers shall be delivered adequately protected from damage during shipment. 1.06 Warranty 1.06.01 Manufacturer's warranty against defects in material or workmanship on its glassware washers for 1 year from date of installation or 2 years from date of purchase, whichever is sooner, shall include replacement of parts (except lamps) and labor. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 Acceptable Manufacturer: 2.01.01 Labconco Corporation, 8811 Prospect Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64132, SteamScrubber(r) and FlaskScrubber(r) Laboratory Glassware Washers, Model numbers as follows: SteamScrubber Undercounter Models 44003-00, 115 volts 44003-01, with high heat, 230 volts 44003-10, with viewing window, 115 volts 44003-11, with high heat and viewing window, 230 volts SteamScrubber Freestanding Models 44004-00, 115 volts 44004-01, with high heat, 230 volts 44004-10, with viewing window, 115 volts 44004-11, with high heat and viewing window, 230 volts FlaskScrubber Undercounter Models 44203-00, 115 volts 44203-01, with high heat, 230 volts 44203-10, with viewing window, 115 volts 44203-11, with high heat and viewing window, 230 volts FlaskScrubber Freestanding Models 44204-00, 115 volts 44204-01, with high heat, 230 volts 44204-10, with viewing window, 115 volts 44204-11, with high heat and viewing window, 230 volts 2.02 Materials: 2.02.01 Tank and interior door shall be constructed of Type 304 stainless steel with mirror finish. Four leveling feet shall be provided. 2.02.02 Tank shall have two rows of polypropylene rollers for the upper rack. 2.02.03 Fiberglass blanket shall surround the tank. Aluminum-backed acoustic material shall be located at strategic locations. 2.02.04 Control panel shall be injection molded with microprocessor that shall store five factory preset programs (RINSE ONLY, PLASTIC, GLASS, GLASS PLUS and SCIENTIFIC) and two user set programs (USER 1 SET and USER 2 SET). Program parameters shall be capable of alteration by the user. An LCD shall display the program selected or details of the program. 2.02.05 Steam generator shall produce steam before the second wash cycle of any program except RINSE ONLY and PLASTIC. Selection or cancellation of steam shall be from the control panel. 2.02.05 Purified water pump shall bring pressurized or non-pressurized purified waterfrom an external source into the tank for the last two rinses. Selection or cancellation of purified water shall be from the control panel. 2.02.06 Detergent dispenser shall hold powder or liquid detergent. An indentation on the door's interior shall accommodate additional detergent. 2.02.07 Circulation pump shall have 1/3 hp motor and recirculates up to 60 gallons (227 liters) of water per minute (at 60 Hz) throughout the tank during the wash cycle. 2.02.08 Purified water inlet valve shall be equipped with a plastic serrated hose connection to accommodate 3/4" ID flexible plastic or rubber hose. 2.02.09 Particle filter shall be constructed of one-piece stainless steel fine mesh and removable for cleaning. 2.02.10 Freestanding models shall also have black melamine-covered, high-density particle board top, Type 304 stainless steel sides andepoxy-coated steel back. 2.02.11 Models wired for 115 volts shall have a 1200-watt heater. With a minimum inlet temperature of 120 degrees F (49 degrees C), the sump heater shall elevate water temperature approximately 20 degrees F (11 degrees C). Maximum water temperature shall be 140 degrees F (60 degrees C). 2.02.12 Models wired for 230 volts shall have a 2000-watt heater with thermostat. With a minimum inlet temperature of 120 degrees F (49 degrees C), the sump heater shall elevate water temperature approximately 20 degrees F (11 degrees C) when PLASTIC, GLASS or USER 1 SET is selected, or approximately 60 degrees F (33 degrees C) when GLASS PLUS, SCIENTIFIC or USER 2 SET is selected. Maximum water temperature shall be 180 degrees F (82 degrees C). 2.02.13 Optional viewing window shall be clear tempered safety glass, 6.3" x 13.8" (15.9 x 34.9 cm). Interior light shall be 25 watt. 2.02.14 FlaskScrubber models shall also feature a wash arm and spindle rack with 34 detachable spindles constructed of Type 304 stainless steel. Optional Adjustable Height Upper Rack and Upper Spindle Rack are available. 2.02.15 SteamScrubber models shall also feature two wash arms, tower, side rails, Top Rack and Bottom Rack constructed of Type 304 stainless steel. Tower shall telescope and lock into two positions.Top rack may be positioned in either of two different height locations. 2.02.16 Optional stationary base stand for freestanding models shall be constructed of Type 304 stainless steel and have hinged front panel that opens to storage space. Four leveling feet shall be provided. 2.03 Fabrication: 2.03.01 Overall exterior dimensional information on glassware washers is as follows: Nominal Exterior Dimensions of Undercounter models: 24.0" W x 26.4" D x 34.3" H minimum to 36.3" H maximum (60.9 x 67.1 x 87.1 cm minimum to 92.1 cm maximum).Nominal Exterior Dimensions of Freestanding models: 24.5" W x 26.7" D x 35.1" H minimum to 37.1" H maximum (62.2 x 67.8 x 89.2 cm H minimum to 94.2 cm H maximum). 2.03.02 Overall interior dimensional information on glassware washers is as follows: Nominal Interior Dimensions of SteamScrubber models: 21.5" W x 21" D (54.6 x 53.3 cm) 11" or 8.75" H (27.9 x 22.2 cm) - distance from bottom wash arm to top wash arm 6.5" or 8.75" H (16.5 x 22.2 cm) - distance from top wash arm to top of tank Nominal Interior Dimensions of FlaskScrubber models: 21.5" W x 21" D (54.6 x 53.3 cm). 17.6" H (44.7 cm) - distance from top of spindle rack to top of tank 2.03.03 Sound level shall be 62 dbA or less. 2.03.04 Washers shall be manufactured in the U.S.A. 2.03.05 Optional base stand shall have the following nominal dimensions: 24.0" W x 25.6" D x 17.0" H (62 x 68 x 43.2 cm). PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 Inspection 3.01.01 Carefully check the contents of the carton for damage that might have occurred in transit. 3.02 Preparation 3.02.01 Verify equipment rough-in before proceeding with work. 3.02.02 Coordinate with other trades for the proper and correct installation of plumbing and electrical rough-in and for rough opening dimensions required for the installation of the washer. 3.03 Installation 3.03.01 Install according to manufacturer's instructions. 3.03.02 Install according to standards required by authority having jurisdiction. 3.03.03 Install equipment plumb, square and straight with no distortion and securely anchor as required. 3.03.04 Sequence installation to ensure utility connections are achieved in an orderly and expeditious manner. 3.03.05 Touch up minor damaged surfaces caused by installation. Replace damaged components as directed by Architect. 3.04 Cleaning 3.04.01 Clean equipment countertops and all other surfaces as recommended by the manufacturer, rendering all work in a new and unused appearance. 3.04.02 Clean adjacent construction and surfaces which may have been soiled in the course of installation of work in this section. 3.05 Protection 3.05.01 Provide all necessary protective measures to prevent exposure of equipment and surfaces to other construction activity. 3.05.02 Advise contractor of procedures and precautions for protection of material and installed equipment and casework from damage by work of other trades.
