The stand mounted enclosures shall provide personnel, animal and environmental protection from particulates such as allergens during animal research activities including cage changing, weighing, anesthesia delivery and surgical procedures. B. Design Features and Requirements: 1. Angled sash: 1/4" thick, clear tempered safety glass. Angled for ergonomically-correct user positioning without glare. Fully closing. Counterweight with an anti-racking mechanism. 12" high working level with tactile feedback. Does not require removal for routine filter or motor/blower service. Sash pocket to enclose raised sash to prevent potential contamination from spreading to upper external environment. 2. Positive pressure contaminated plenums are surrounded by negative pressure plenums. 3. Air Entry System: Curved sash handle, air foil and side post provide less resistance to airflow at the access opening for better containment. 4. Negative Pressure Channel: Located at the top of the sash opening. Prevents loss of containment at the top of the sash. Mechanical wipers at the top of the work area are unacceptable. 5. Secondary Airflow Slots: Located in front of the air foil's inflow grille. Draw air into the cabinet should the operator inadvertently block the grille area. 6. Location of audible/visual alarm indicator, mute switch, light/blower switch, pressure gauge, electrical receptacles and service fixtures shall be ADA compliant. 7. Audio/visual alarm indicator that activates when sash is raised above optimum operating level, with mute switch. C. Performance Requirements: 1. True laminar (uniform) down flow per NSF Standard 49. 2. Enclosure to operate with nominal inflow velocity of 85 feet per minute (fpm) and down flow velocity of 55 +/-5 fpm. 3. Enclosure shall provide approximately 70% of the air passing through the cabinet to be recirculated through the supply HEPA filter and back over the work area. 4. ISO/DIS Standard 14644-1 Class 5 conditions: Fewer than 3520 particles 0.5µm or larger per cubic meter of air in the work area of the enclosure. 5. Sound level: 67 dB or less at a position 12" away from the bottom edge of the sash, 15" above the work surface. 1.5 SUBMITTALS A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300. B.
