Rodent cage changing stations for laboratory vivariums. The stations have two operational sides providing work space for two personnel performing animal transfers from dirty to clean cages. The stations provide personnel, animal and environmental protection from particulates such as allergens. B. Design Features and Requirements: 1. Angled sashes: Two – one each on front and back. 1/4" thick, clear polycarbonate. Recessed and angled for ergonomically-correct user positioning without glare. Bottom edge of each sash is angled inward. 2-position hinged, pivoting: 14" working height; 27" loading height. Mechanical sash hold on each sash keeps sash in the raised position should a hinge failure occur. 2. Liquid spill guard: Mounted between work surface and lower blower assembly. Protects HEPA filter from spills and user from direct contact with blower assembly. 3. Location of light and blower switches, pressure gauges and electrical receptacles shall be ADA compliant. C. Performance Requirements: 1. Single pass airflow design with no recirculation through the enclosure. 2. Enclosure to operate with down flow velocity of 55 +/-5 fpm. 3. Enclosure shall provide approximately 70% of the air passing through the cabinet to be recirculated through the supply HEPA filter and back over the work area. 4. ISO/DIS Standard 14644-1 Class 5 conditions: Fewer than 3520 particles 0.5µm or larger per cubic meter of air in the work area of the enclosure. 5. Sound level: 69 dB or less at a position 12" away from the bottom edge of the sash, 15" above the work surface. 1.5 SUBMITTALS A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300. B.
