A precision mercury-in-glass thermometer, graduated in 0.5 deg divisions, Teflon encapsulated for extra safety, mounted in a clear polycarbonate bottle with mineral oil for use as a heat 'sink'.
Prevents rapid change of indication when chamber is opened for inspection.
